Introducing LPD8 Wireless

In creating the LPD8 Wireless pad controller, we addressed the needs of mobile musicians everywhere by bringing Bluetooth MIDI functionality and battery-operated capability to a feature-rich pad controller weighing in at only one pound.

The LPD8's six UI buttons and eight assignable slim-design pots deliver a truly versatile range of performance and control options. The newly added Full Level button guarantees your pad performances are loud, clear and at an equal velocity, when even volume is a must. The LPD8 Wireless also has a Note Repeat button, perfect for the dance music performer who loves creating build-ups before the drop. Artists can use the NR Config button to control and fine tune Swing and Time Division parameters.

Another advantage of going cord-free: No more accidentally disconnecting the USB connection or tripping over power cables in the middle of a performance.

Music Apps-enhanced

The LPD8 Wireless can also connect to any iOS device. Used in tandem with beat making apps such as iMPC Pro, the LPD8 Wireless provides enhanced compositional control and expressive power over any music creation app, while maintaining a truly mobile setup.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What is Bluetooth LE?

Bluetooth Low Energy, also known as Bluetooth LE or Bluetooth Smart, is a means to wirelessly link electronic devices. Bluetooth LE consumes a lesser amount of power than older iterations of Bluetooth.

  • Can I use this with my Windows computer?

Yes, but it can only be connected via wired USB connection. Transferring MIDI via Bluetooth LE is not officially supported. Although workarounds do exist, latency is typically a factor that adversely affects workflow.

  • Is a driver required to connect this device to my computer?

No! This device is class compliant with both MacOS and iOS devices.

  • How can I tell if my computer running MacOS has Bluetooth LE?

Click the Apple symbol in your taskbar. Select About This Mac. Click on the More Info... button. Click on the System Report... button. Select Bluetooth from the sidebar on the left, underneath "Hardware." Scan down the list of information until you find LMP Version. If your Mac is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, LMP Version will say 0x6. Anything lower than that is an older version of Bluetooth.

  • Can I use this with an iOS device?

Absolutely! Enjoy the freedom of wireless grooving with your devices running. Most current versions of iOS support Bluetooth LE but if you are unsure if your device is supported you can check here: http://www.iphonefaq.org/archives/973945

  • Does this product only support wireless connection?

In addition to Bluetooth LE, the LPD8 also connects to your device with a standard USB cable.

  • How is this product powered?

This product is powered via both USB connection or three (3) AA batteries when using wireless Bluetooth connection. You can use the switch on the side of the LPD8 Wireless to alternate between USB and battery power.

  • How long is the battery life?

Average battery life when only running on battery power is around 46 hours with fresh batteries.

  • What if my iOS app does not support Bluetooth MIDI?

Many of the iOS synth and audio apps that you love may not yet support Bluetooth MIDI and may not offer any options to select input from your LPD8 Wireless. No problem! There are a few MIDI utility apps, such as midimittr that will accept the connection and route it to your favorite apps. Check it out and download midimittr for free here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midimittr/id925495245?mt=8

  • Can I use the LPK25 Wireless and the LPD8 Wireless together?

Yes, the two devices can be connected and used together with the same device. Use the provided editor software (available in the downloads section) to dive even further and separate them by MIDI channel.
